The State Cinema is a seven screen boutique independent cinema specialising in international, Australian and quality film with a focus on a mature audience. A bustling fully licensed cafe bar is a major part of our operations, and a bookstore is on the way also. Due to expansions in a number of areas of the business, we have open the following positions.

Cafe Supervisor
The State Cinema Cafe Bar requires an experienced cafe supervisor. The position is approximately 32 hours per week, primarily daytime, and includes four weekend shifts each month. The main duties are as follows:
- Supervising casual staff within the cafe
- Opening and closing the cafe
- Customer service including espresso coffee, food preparation and serving of alcohol
- Ticket selling
- Stock ordering and the managing of stock levels
- Assisting with product selection and pricing
- General maintenance and cleaning of cafe
- Following and maintaining procedures essential for efficient cafe operation
Applicants should have at least two years experience in a busy cafe environment, be well presented, have a high level of customer service ability and a sound understanding of behind the scenes cafe operations. This position is not suitable for a student with contact hours, as most shifts are on weekdays. We require a commitment to the position of one year, and you will need to be available to work on the 30th, 31st of December and the 1st of January in your first year of employment with us.
Senior Cafe Bar Attendant
Experienced, highly professional Senior Cafe Bar Attendant position in fast-paced cinema cafe bar with a focus on delivering premium level customer service. We require energetic and well-presented people with at least 2 years of experience in a busy cafe environment, including espresso coffee making. The role includes some supervision of junior staff, espresso coffee making, customer service, ticket selling and general cafe operation including some basic food preparation and cleaning. A high level of attention to detail, overall efficiency and superior customer service skills are essential. These positions involve one weeknight shift and one weekend shift as a minimum, plus extra shifts during the busy January period, and are therefore ideally suited to college or university students. We require a commitment to the position until the end of next year. You must be available for the 30th & 31st of December and the 1st of January for your first year with us.
Cook
An experienced cook is required for our café. Primary duties include preparation of menu items, stock monitoring and ordering, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. The position is approximately 20 - 30 hours per week, across 5 days. Shifts will begin in the morning around 8.30am. There may be provision for a degree of flexibility with rostered days and hours. This position will suit a mature, confident and experienced cook, familiar with all aspects of safety and hygiene within food preparation and handling areas.
